What Is Facial Acupuncture?

Facial acupuncture, also known as cosmetic or facial rejuvenation acupuncture, is an acupuncture technique with a focus on treating facial concerns such as signs of aging. Facial acupuncture is a great way to naturally:

  • boost collagen production

  • boost skin cell production

  • smooth fine lines and wrinkles

  • improve muscle tone

  • improve skin texture and elasticity

  • give you a lovely glow

How Does Facial Acupuncture Work?

Facial acupuncture works from the inside out and includes a full health assessment. Each treatment is tailored to your needs using a combination of facial and body acupuncture points to support your overall health.

On the face, tiny acupuncture needles are used to thread fine lines and wrinkles. This causes micro trauma to the skin, directing your body to produce more collagen and bring in more Qi and blood flow to heal the target area. Slightly larger, but still very small, acupuncture needles are also used on the face in specific acupuncture points which will address skin texture, elacticity, puffiness, dullness, acne, muscle tone, and areas of sagging skin.

Each facial appointment is finished with gentle facial cupping to move lymph and fluid accumulation as well as improve blood flow. We’ll use unscented witchhazel and organic rosehip oil for the cupping. You will leave with a lovely glow. Please arrive for your appointment with make-up free skin.

How Many Treatments?

Depending on your age, lifestyle, overall health and areas of concern, for really noticeable results you need a minimum of 5 treatments, lasting results after 10 treatments. Quarterly maintenance is highly recommended.

One treatment will leave you with a lovely glow feeling relaxed and refreshed, but is not enough to see lasting changes. Treatments should be spaced once or twice a week. Any longer between treatments is really more of a maintenance phase, it will keep you where you are but visible and lasting changes are unlikely.

Is there anyone who should not have facial acupuncture?

Yes, this type of acupuncture is not for everyone. Anyone with the following should not have facial acupuncture:

  • uncontrolled high blood pressure

  • severe migraines

  • pregnancy

  • diabetes

  • prone to fainting

  • fear of needles

Ultra fine intradermal needles threading lines between the eyes.

These lines are quite common and in Chinese medicine they are linked to frequent impatience or frustration. By targeting facial points and adding body points that help ease overall stress, these lines can smooth out more noticeably.
